Officers responded Tuesday to the Starbucks parking lot at 555 Main Ave. on a report of two men trying to force a third man into a car, police said.
Arriving officers located all three men and detained Rafael Santana-Cuevas and Hector Pagan-Sanchez, police said.
The victim told officers that he had met Sanchez on Monday via an online merchandise sales website and sold him an iPhone.
Sanchez contacted the victim again and asked to purchase two additional phones, the victim told police.
They arranged to meet again Tuesday at the Main Avenue parking lot, police said.
When the victim arrived, Sanchez and Cuevas attempted to force him into a vehicle, while taking items from his pockets, police said. The victim was able to resist their attempts until officers arrived, police said.
Cuevas and Sanchez, both from the Bronx, N.Y., were each arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree kidnapping and conspiracy, police said. Each man was held on $100,000 bond. Both appeared in court Wednesday.
"We remind online shoppers that the Norwalk PD offers an E-Commerce Safe Zone in the South Main Street parking lot of headquarters," police said. "We encourage persons meeting strangers to buy or sell items to use our parking lot."
